Evacuation Plan

What should I do in the event of an emergency such as a hurricane?

As hazards occur, listen to local news; be alert for advisories from local officials.

What is your plan in the event of an emergency? What should I plan to have ready should I need to evacuate my home?

  1. Everyone has a personal responsibility to prepare, make a plan, and coordinate with family members to ensure their safety.
  2. Plan for a minimum of 72 hours before aid comes to you or recovery efforts have been established to allow you to return.
  3. Fuel up you car and generator.
  4. Make a kit, include the following items:
    • Battery operated AM/FM radio
    • Reliable flashlights
    • Non perishable food (something that does not need to be cooked and can be eaten out of a can)
    • Bottled water
    • Important papers such as insurance binders and personal identification.
    • Make sure to have ample supply of medications in the event that you must leave your home.
    • CASH, loss of power means no ATM’s will be available.
